What to Expect from a Massage Treatment

At Hands on Chiropractic & Health in Glenelg

Many new clients—especially those who’ve never had a massage before—can feel a little nervous before their first appointment. That’s completely normal.
At Hands on Chiropractic & Health, our goal is to make your experience comfortable, safe, and positive from start to finish.

🕒 Before Your Appointment

Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete a New Patient Intake Form.
Your licensed remedial massage therapist will review this form with you before the session to better understand your needs, medical history, and any specific areas of concern.
All information is kept confidential.

✅What Happens During the Massage?

Your therapist will leave the room while you get ready. You'll lie on the massage table and cover yourself with a towel.
They will then return and use professional draping techniques—only the area being treated will be uncovered at any time. This ensures warmth, privacy, and dignity throughout your session.

If you prefer to keep loose-fitting underwear on, that’s completely fine. You will still be properly draped.

✅ What If I Still Feel Pain After the Massage?

Massage therapy can be highly effective for pain relief, but you may not feel results immediately—especially if the issue is chronic.
Relief may come several hours later or even the next day, as your body processes the work done during the session.

Think of it like going to the gym: one session helps, but lasting results often require consistency.
Your therapist may recommend a course of sessions based on your condition.

If your issue is outside the scope of massage therapy, we will refer you to a trusted health professional who can assist further.

✅ Massage May Help With:

  • Muscle tension & tightness

  • Headaches & stress

  • Back, neck & shoulder pain

  • Sports recovery

  • Poor posture & desk-related discomfort

You are welcome to receive massage therapy on its own, or in combination with chiropractic care or laser therapy for enhanced results.
